How billing works
Subscribe from /subscribe when signed in. Shelf creates a Razorpay order in INR; after payment verification your account flips to Premium with a subscription expiry date (default 365 days, configurable on the server). You receive a confirmation email when activation succeeds.

Who needs Premium
Power users with large PDF corpora, daily Study AI chat across collections, or syllabus docs for multiple exams benefit most. Casual readers who upload a few papers and ask occasional questions often stay comfortably on free.
What Premium adds
More cloud storage for PDFs and notebooks, higher monthly Study AI token limits, and priority headroom for library-wide chat during intensive revision months.
Free tier remains fully usable for daily study — Premium is volume and convenience, not paywalling core reading.

Token budgeting
Tokens measure AI usage — long threads, big attachments, and wide library scope consume more. Dashboard surfaces usage so you are never surprised mid-month.
Premium resets give predictable capacity for mains season.
Storage reality
Ten gigabytes holds thousands of typical exam PDFs — scanning entire coaching institutes still fits if you prune duplicates. One source.pdf per page keeps storage predictable.

Cancel and downgrade
Subscription management lives in Settings; downgrade keeps your uploads — you only lose expanded quotas. Export highlights and notes from reader before leaving if you migrate tools.

When to upgrade
